Loss of Consortium Loss of Consortium is a claim that is usually filed by the spouse of the person who was injured, seeking compensation for what they suffered because of the injuries. “Consortium” is Latin, probably taken from the phrase “per quod servitium et consortium amisit” which translates to “in consequence of which he lost her society and service.” Such a claim usually points to the fact that a spouse lost all or some of the following due to the injury:
